I won't bore you with what has already been said. This instant coffee is a pleasure to drink in comparsion with most instant or even regular drip coffees. It is smooth and creamy even if a little bland looking to the eye. Even the aftertaste is pleasant as it lingers in your mouth for quiet a while. I find that I have to use a double portion of the prescribed teaspoon of instant coffee to achieve a decent taste per cup. The price is reasonable and the taste good but let me share my reluctance.



My only reluctance about this instant coffee is simply because I am a coffee snob. Starbucks VIA instant coffee is far better tasting instant with its only drawback being about $1 per cup. With a double portion of Mount Hagen instant coffee the price is about $0.25 a cup ($46 Amazon cost / 6 packs / 30 double servings per pack = ~$0.25) Furthermore, I wouldn't trade in my regular drip, french press, or chemex coffees for this instant as they are incomparable and an unfair comparsion.



Now why would I dare to compare this instant to other ground coffees? Simply because other reviewers have posted saying Mount Hagen is as good as regular. Unless you're drinking Folgers, Maxwell House, or some other coffee made with ground tires and run through an old shoe, no, this instant is not as good. I would reach for a good coffee of drip coffee over this coffee any day of the week.



But for what this instant is and the price, it is excellent. If you keep in mind that sometimes you only need one cup of coffee at night or on the go, you simply cannot lose with Mount Hagen's instant coffee. Again, it has an fantastic taste (for an instant) and won't break the bank. But don't expect this instant to knock your socks off either.

If you've never tried this French Vanilla coffee, then you're in for a real treat. I took this into work the other day and literally, it looked like one of those weird commercials when people are floating towards the coffee room! Everyone went crazy over this stuff - it smells so much like caramel when it's brewing and when it is done, the flavor is just so very rich that I just drink it black. I really cannot recommend this one enough, and everyone that I know that has tried it, now keeps it on hand all the time. This is my morning breakfast coffee now - lot less calories than a doughnut with the same effect (well, sorta!). This is a little pricey here though. I pay four dollars for it at my local hardware store (yes, I did say hardware store!). This is the number one brand of coffee in the country, per consumer reports. Highly, highly recommend!

Right now I am about 1/2 way through a bag of 8 O'Clock Columbian whole bean. This is a good morning coffee. It has a nice aroma while brewing and the filter basket has a nice aroma also when removing from my Bunn coffee maker right after brewing. When partially cooled it has a nice wine like finish. If ground medium fine it has nice chocolate taste. For $4 a bag it is good Joe.

Just opened a new bag of EOC Columbian, it is still consistently very good. Ground real fine the nice winey aftertaste really comes alive. Again 8 O'Clock surprises. Keep it up 8 O'Clock. You rock,

further tasting confirms my comments. i even found that changing the creamer concentration will expose more flavor or smoothness in the coffee without changing the coffee concentration.

You know when you open a bag of coffee how you stick your nose in there and I knew I was in trouble when it just smelled bad - a little bit like a dirty ashtray. Despite the smell, I made a pot of coffee and the taste was just as bad as the smell. I'm donating the unopened bags to a homeless shelter but I feel a little guilty subjecting anyone to this coffee.



When I bought this coffee, I knew it wasn't going to be Kona or Blue Mountain but I didn't expect it to be this bad.

Can't get a better tasting coffee than 8'Oclock coffee. We love the Hazelnut! I went with the ground to save some time each morning. Not a good choice!! I use a perculator...THE BEST way to enjoy coffee and factory ground is too fine for that type of brew. I have since gone back to the whole bean and grind it myself....WHOLE BEAN IS THE BEST!!
